Eucharistic Crusade at St. Peter's - New Hamburg

By permitting young children to receive the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist once they reach the age of reason, St. Pius X strongly motivated them to pursue holiness. This initiative sparked a significant movement of devotion among young people, which was formally established in 1914 by Belgian priest Fr. Edouard Poppe (1890-1924). The Eucharistic Crusade was revived by seminarians in Econe during the 1980s.
This movement is open to all children from 6 years old. The meeting starts at 8 am with the mass, which is followed by the conference by the chaplain around 9 am and then a play activity until 10 am.
The movement aims to put Jesus in the Eucharist at the center of our children's lives, teaching them to do everything to please Jesus whom they receive in communion. To this end, the treasure sheet that members are asked to dip each day is of particular importance. In addition to helping with the examination of conscience (and thus reminding the family of the obligation of evening prayer), it helps the child to enter into the spirit of doing as much as possible each day to offer as many good deeds as possible to Jesus present in the Eucharist.
